Dr Una Mary Mulvany (1890 – 1987). Her commitment to Portsmouth during the World War II air raids was well known, and post war she was awarded an MBE by George VI for risking her life continually during every raid that took place over Portsmouth, doctoring to the injured of Fratton. The daughter of a Doctor with a practise set up in Fratton Street in 1887, Dr Mulvaney was the only candidate in her year to pass her medical exanimations with honours in every subject, at the young age of 21. |
